Class Policies for Stephanie Krause/The Art Playspace LLC

  • *Please do not register a child out of age range for my classes without reaching out to me first. Please note: I've set age ranges for my classes based on experience. I some cases I will agree in advance to let your child take the class anyway; in other cases, I will withdraw & refund.

Should you register an out-of-age-range child for a class and I can't reach you in a timely manner to discuss, I reserve the right to withdraw your learner and issue a refund.

*Each learner must be registered individually. If parents/guardians want more than one learner to participate, Students may share a camera, but you must register each individual learner.

*PLEASE LET ME KNOW OF ADVANCE OF CLASS about any learning differences or information I might need to know to effectively work with your learner. It's important that I know pertinent information before class starts, rather than discovering it during class, in order to provide the best learning experiences for everyone in the class.

  • *Tuition should largely be considered nonrefundable, with exceptions as outlined below.

IF YOU WANT TO CANCEL YOUR CLASS REGISTRATION AND WITHDRAW, THE FOLLOWING REFUND RULES APPLY:

    FOR GROUP CLASSES:

If you cancel your registration 21 or more days before the start of any group class, you will receive a full tuition refund.

Cancellation requests received within 21 days of the start date, or after the start date, will not be refunded, nor will credit be provided for a future class.

Stephanie Krause/The Art Playspace LLC does not provide prorated refunds for those who need to drop a class after it starts.

    FOR PRIVATE LESSONS:

Cancellation or rescheduling requests made for any reason other than illness must be received a minimum of 36 hours prior to your class time to be eligible for a tuition refund.

Cancellation requests received within 36 hours of start time will not be refunded or rescheduled.

Exceptions will be made in the case of emergency or illness.

*IF YOU MISS AN INDIVIDUAL CLASS SESSION WHILE THE COURSE IS IN PROGRESS:

You will not receive a refund, class credit, or make-up session.

Please note that Stephanie Krause/The Art Playspace LLC does not provide class replays for missed sessions of children’s online classes.

*IF YOU MISS A PRIVATE LESSON/TUTORING SESSION:

You will not receive a partial refund, class credit, or make-up class.

  • *Should I need to cancel a class for low registration, I will alert registered learners a week prior to the class start and issue a full refund. I list minimum class registration numbers in each class listing. If you are concerned about whether a class will run, please feel free to reach out and check in with me about registration numbers prior to that point.

*Should I need to cancel an individual class session during a course due to personal emergency, I will do my best to add a make-up session to the class. Should that not prove possible, I will offer a single-session refund to all learners.

  • I understand how critical it is that learners and their adults feel safe in my classroom, and as part of my commitment to maintain privacy and safety for students please note the following:

*I will record live classes and store the recordings for a year to enable me to document and investigate in the unexpected occurrence of any classroom behavioral issue or safety concern.

*I will not share recorded sessions in whole or in part publicly, or with other learners in the class.
I do not release recordings to students who miss classes. Missing an online class session in one of my classes works the same as it would if you missed a day of school - you would not get any sort of recording. I will do my best to help students who miss class to catch up when they return.

*In the case of a safety concern or classroom incident that requires follow-up, I may share the relevant portion(s) of a class recording with parents/guardians of involved participants.

  • *I prefer students have their cameras on during class so I can gauge understanding - at the very least, I need to see them in the beginning of class to visually verify them. I understand some students feel anxious about being on-camera throughout, so as long as I have visually verified them at the beginning of class, they may turn cameras off during work time.

*I cannot allow learners without working cameras, whom I cannot visually verify, to stay in a class session. They will be put into the waiting room.

*I turn off the group online chat feature. Students may chat to me directly but may not chat with other learners.

*I ask students to mute themselves if there is background noise (eg speaking with others in the home; construction work; barking dogs; a need to hum or sing while working). Occasionally I may mute a student if their background noise becomes distracting.

*I ask students to raise hands, either in real life or digitally, when they would like to share.

*Students must clothed on camera - please do not come to class shirtless.

*Students should refrain from doing anythng disruptive to the classroom environment - for example, using Zoom's features for adding hats/glasses or turning yourself into an animal; changing backgrounds; changing screen names)

*Kindness matters - we must speak kindly to classmates

*Should there be any behavioral concerns during a class, I will reach out to learners and their parents/guardians to address the issue.

*ADULTS AND NON-PARTICIPATING INDIVIDUALS IN A LEARNER'S PHYSICAL SPACE SHOULD STAY OFF-CAMERA. Adults may sit near their learners, but must stay off-screen.

  • *I use the waiting room feature to let students in to class. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE NAME IN ZOOM MATCHES THE LEARNER'S NAME - first name only, please, or first name and last initial. I will not let learners into the classroom if I don't know who they are.

*Should there be a visual safety concern with a learner (eg, an undressed sibling is visible on-camera), I will turn off the learner's camera.

*Students should NOT SHARE identifying information in live classes (eg full address, gamer tags, email addresses).

*As mentioned in the classroom behavior section, PLEASE ENSURE NO ADULTS OR OTHER CHILDREN ARE VISIBLE IN THE LEARNER'S CAMERA.
