Class Policies for Stephanie Krause/The Art Playspace LLC
-
Please do not register a child out of age range for my classes without reaching out to me first.
Please note: I've set age ranges for my classes based on experience. In some cases I will agree in advance to let your child take the class anyway; this is not always the case.
Should you register an out-of-age-range child for a class and I can't reach you in a timely manner to discuss, I reserve the right to withdraw your learner and issue a refund.
Each learner must be registered individually.
If parents/guardians want more than one learner in their household to participate, you must register each individual learner.
Students may share a camera, but each must be registered separately.
Please let me know in advance of class about any learning differences or information I might need to know to effectively work with you/your learner.
It's important that I know pertinent information before class starts, rather than discovering it during class, in order to provide the best learning experiences for everyone.
Subscription pricing will remain consistent month-month; most all months are 4 weeks long, but this can occasionally vary.

*Tuition should largely be considered nonrefundable, with exceptions as outlined below.
IF YOU WANT TO CANCEL YOUR CLASS REGISTRATION AND WITHDRAW, THE FOLLOWING REFUND RULES APPLY:
FOR GROUP CLASSES:
In order to receive a tuition refund, you must cancel your registration a minimum of 21 days prior to the class start date.
Cancellation requests received fewer than 21 days prior to the class start date will not be refunded, nor will credit be provided for a future class.
Stephanie Krause/The Art Playspace LLC does not provide prorated refunds for those who need to drop a class after it starts. You may choose to watch the video recordings of the class sessions, if available. (See more about class recordings below in the “Recording Policy & Privacy Concerns” section.)
FOR PRIVATE LESSONS:
Tuition is nonrefundable, but with enough advance notice, I may be able to reschedule a class.
Should you need to miss a lesson, please let me know as far in advance as possible.
Rescheduling requests made for any non-urgent reason must be received a minimum of 1 week prior to your scheduled session to be eligible for rescheduling.
*IF YOU MISS AN INDIVIDUAL SESSION OF A MULTI-SESSION COURSE OR MONTHLY ONGOING CLASS:
You will not receive a refund, class credit, or make-up session.
Class recordings will usually be available for those who miss a session of a multi-session course or ongoing monthly class.
*IF YOU MISS A SINGLE-SESSION CLASS:
You will not receive a refund, class credit, or make-up session.
Class recordings will not be provided for a single-session class, unless the learner is already known to me. (See more about class recordings below in the “Recording Policy & Privacy Concerns” section.)
*IF YOU MISS A PRIVATE LESSON/TUTORING SESSION FOR ANY NON-URGENT REASON:
You will not receive a partial refund, class credit, or make-up session.
-
*Should I need to cancel a group class for low registration, I will alert registered learners a week prior to the class start and issue a full refund. I list minimum class registration numbers in each class listing. If you are concerned about whether a class will run and want to check on registration numbers sooner than that, please feel free to reach out to me via email.
*Should I need to cancel a session during a multi-session course due to emergency or illness, I will do my best to add a make-up session to the class. Should that not prove possible, I will offer a single-session refund to all learners.
*Should I need to cancel a tutoring session due to emergency or illness, I will offer a reschedule or, should we not be able to find a convenient time, I will issue a refund.

As part of my commitment to maintain privacy and safety for students, please note the following regarding classroom recordings.
By registering for classes with me, you acknowledge your consent for you/your child to be recorded for the purposes listed below:
I will record live classes for the purposes of sharing the recordings with class participants who miss or want to re-watch a live class session.
I will only share class recordings with students registered for that particular class session. I will not release recordings to anyone not registered for that specific class session.
For safety, I will not release a class recording to a registered participant who has never attended class. If you miss the first session of a class, or a single-session class, you will have to meet with me separately before class to verify identity before I release the recording to you.
Recordings of live classes will be available to class participants for up to one month after the class ends.
Please note that although my goal is to provide class recordings, in rare instances technology may fail, in which case a class recording will not be available. As such, please make every effort to attend the live class sessions.
In the unlikely occurrence of any classroom behavioral issue or safety concern, I may share relevant portion(s) of a class recording with parents/guardians of involved participants.

CAMERA POLICY:
I prefer students have their cameras on during class so I can gauge understanding - at the very least, I need to see them in the beginning of class to visually verify them. I understand some students feel anxious about being on-camera throughout, so as long as I have visually verified them at the beginning of class, they may turn cameras off during work time.
I cannot allow learners without working cameras, whom I cannot visually verify, to stay in a class session. They will be put into the waiting room.
ADULTS AND NON-PARTICIPATING INDIVIDUALS IN A LEARNER'S PHYSICAL SPACE SHOULD STAY OFF-CAMERA. Adults may sit near their learners, but must stay off-screen.
ZOOM ETIQUETTE:Students must be fully-clothed on camera - please do not come to class shirtless.
Students should refrain from doing anythng disruptive to the classroom environment - for example, playing with their camera; using Zoom's features for adding hats/glasses or turning yourself into an animal; changing virtual backgrounds; changing screen names.
The group chat function will not be available. Students may chat to me directly, but may not chat with other learners.
I ask students to mute themselves if there is background noise, or they themselves are making noise (eg speaking with others in the home; construction work; barking dogs; a need to hum or sing while working). I may occasionally mute a student if their background noise becomes distracting.
I ask students to raise hands, either in real life or digitally, when they would like to share.
GENERAL BEHAVIOR:Kindness matters - we must speak kindly to classmates and refrain from judgmental language about others or their art.
IF A BEHAVIORAL CONCERN ARISES DURING CLASS:
Should any extreme behavioral concerns arise during a class, I reserve the right to put a learner in the waiting room.
Should a concern arise, I will reach out as soon as possible after class to any involved learner(s) and their parent(s)/guardian(s) after class to address the issue.
-
I use the waiting room feature to let students in to class. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE NAME IN ZOOM MATCHES THE LEARNER'S NAME - first name only, please, or first name and last initial. I will not let learners into the classroom if I don't know who they are.
Should there be a visual safety concern with a learner (eg, an undressed sibling or anything inappropriate is visible on-camera), I will turn off the learner's camera.
Students should NOT SHARE identifying information in live classes (eg full address, gamer tags, email addresses).
*As mentioned in other sections, PLEASE ENSURE NO ADULTS OR OTHER NON-PARTICIPATING CHILDREN ARE VISIBLE IN THE REGISTERED LEARNER'S CAMERA.
Should you have any questions about anything on this page, please feel free to email me!
